Recent near-record snow means full lakes & reservoirs for Truckee & Lake Tahoe. Boating opportunities include Donner Lake, Boca & Stampede Reservoirs, and Lake Tahoe
Zebra and quagga mussels are one of the largest threats to Lake Tahoe & Truckee area lakes & reservoirs. All boats must be inspected for zebra and quagga mussels prior to launching.
Prepare your boat for Inspection – Inspections occur during daylight hours and take just a few minutes if you arrive prepared! Clean, Drain, and Dry your boat. Drain the bilge, ballast tanks, live wells, sea strainer and any storage compartments. Dispose of any plants or critters away from lakes or rivers – and above the high water line. If you have an outboard or sterndrive engine, lower the outdrive on the engine to release any residual water. If you flush your engine at home and have special flushing adapters please bring those with you.
