Lake Tahoe has risen 4 feet of water since the beginning of the year and is well above its natural rim. Officials are releasing water from Lake Tahoe and reservoirs in anticipation of the large snow melt. The gates at ‘Fanny Bridge’ have been opened releasing water into the Truckee River.
Current Truckee River water flow is roughly 3 1/2 times its current rate. Close by, Boca and Stampede reservoirs are close to 80 percent capacity, while Prosser reservoir is still below normal. This past week the Truckee River gained more than 1 1/2 inches of snow melt, according to the California Nevada River Forecast Center.
